A princess falls in love with a peasant and - despite their huge differences - they get married 💍 As time goes on, the princess starts to feel sad because of the massive change: In the palace she had royal gardens, the greatest philosophers and orchestras 👑 The peasant tries to make her happy by bringing home even more potatoes, eggs, and milk than before. But it doesn't help because he has no idea how to make a princess happy.
The soul is a princess, the body is a devoted peasant. The body feels the soul's sadness ("guilt", "conscience", "a search for meaning" ) but tries to fill its needs with physical material things that ultimately doesn't help and makes it even sadder 🚘🍽💰
So what can he do? He asks the king to send elements of royal life in the palace to his house to make the princess feel more at home.
We give the Divine soul pieces of heaven that nourishes it: Torah, Mitzvot, spiritual growth opportunities - that makes the soul - the princess - feel right at home. And this fulfills the ultimate purpose of life, for the body (peasant) to be refined by the soul (princess), and the soul to utilize the body to elevate & perfect this physical world.
